How to implement Adaptive Filter in ADAU1701 .
Hi,
i am a new user in ADAU1701 . i have many years of DSP programming in ARM platform .
i want to implement some adaptive filter and voice codec in this chip, but i can not find any related material in internet about source-code programming . only graphical coding is avaliable in ADI support.
is there anyone can help me ?
thx in advance .

Hi Charles,
Unfortunately there is no support for direct programming of the ADAU1701, or any other SigmaDSP processor. You can read more about this at the FAQ on this page:
FAQ: Can I write C or assembly code for SigmaDSP in SigmaStudio?
It is possible to create fairly complex algorithms using the existing graphical library cells. Perhaps you would be able to implement your adaptive filter that way.
However, since the ADAU1701 SigmaDSP is purely a stream processor (incapable of block processing or frequency-domain processing), I think it is unlikely that you would be able to implement something as complex as a voice codec.
Best Regards,
Brett
HI Brett,
appreciate your reply.
can u suggest me a way to implement block processing and pimitive DSP
functions such as:
1. search max. absolut magitude in a block of data.
2. AMDF fuction
3. cross-corelation function
4. auto scale of buffer.
5. ..

Hi Charles:
Even though Brett is correct, there are other recommendation we can provide. Can describe what type of filter you are thinking of doing and what voice codec were you considering?
Based on the your previous reply, one limitation of the SigmaDSP is the search you mention, all other elements are faily easy to be implemented.
thank you
Miguel
Hello Charles,
It seems like things that are trivial in C are often difficult in the graphical environment. For example, it is possible to search through a short delay for some event (such as a maximum or a zero crossing), but it gets rather cumbersome -- see https://ez.analog.com/thread/18706 . On the other hand, SigmaStudio makes it easy to construct rather complex processing flows without writing a line of code. Although originally intended for audio post-processing, SigmaDSP has found some quite novel applications.
Judging from what smartphone apps are doing, ARM processors are capable of much more than Sigma DSP -- for example, decoding MP3s and FFT spectrum analysis. If you need a dedicated DSP of greater power, perhaps a Sharc or Blackfin would do. SigmaStudio for Sharc allows you to build custom functions in C, then embody them as blocks in a SigmaStudio project. This could provide you with the best of both worlds.
Best regards,
Bob
Hi, Bob,
write in C is rather simple than in assemble .
i wote more than 40 type of assemble lang. experience .
i would like to build my block in assemble / C .and then the other fuction
can be finished with graphical tool .
this would be perfect .

hi,
i have a question about the adc and dac. is it a single-bit sigma-delta or
multi-bit sigma-delta?

Hi Charles,
Our parts are multi-bit sigma-delta.
