This question is about the opportunity to use safeload on an 1701 when updating a DC Input entry (that is a block controlling the index of the selected filter inside a 2nd Order filter /lookup).

I'm actually using safeload, but I get strong clicks when switching filters. If I understand well when I write the new value in the DC Input Entry

this will change which of the filter sets (already calculated and stored in the parameter RAM) is used, a sort of Index.

Is this true or does it triggers an internal safeload that loads the parameters in the filter? And if this is the situation, is it possible that

the two safeloads actually interfere (first safeload that triggers the second one?

Or, to put it short: is it good to use safeload to change a DC Input Entry or is it better to write directly to the DC Input Entry location?

Hi dzingoni:

You shouldn't need to safeload the DC block if you use the proper Index Selectable Filter. There is already one type of filter that would sense the change of index and will do the slewing for you. Is this the one you are using?

Hi MigCha,

I forgot to mention that I control the filter selection with a microcontroller, so I need to write in the DC Input Entry to select the desired curve. In the future I'll probably upload the filter coefficients, but for now I have to be able to select one of the curves of an index selectable filter from the external.

Hi dzingoni,

It's OK to write this as a normal write, without using safeload, since it is only one data word.

You only need to use safeload in the event that you're writing multiple words and they all need to be delivered simultaneously,
