JackieTan Question

I will have a earphone connected to 1701 DAC. I want my product to be a high end audio product. I wonder if I have to add an external DAC to drive earphone( connected to digital output channel, not analog output )? If yes, why? and any part of ADI recommend?

Be noted that I am using ADMP441(MEMS Microphone) which outputs I2S to 1701. So the I2S format should be considerred here.

Jackie

Hi Jackie,

You can see the analog performance specs in the ADAU1701 datasheet's specifications section. If these performance specifications are not good enough for your application, you can try a separate DAC with higher performance specs. A good choice might be the AD1955: http://www.analog.com/en/audiovideo-products/audio-da-converters/ad1955/products/product.html
