Hi,

I´m using SigmaStudio 3.6 build 2 rev 957 64bits with ADAU1442. My program is very big and it´s not fitting on chip. The compiler shows a message that the program not fits in Program RAM and tell me to look at error.dat file. But this file is not generated, at least not in the project folder. Am I missing something?

Thank you.

Daniel.

Hi Bob,

I will try the 3.7.3 Beta version to see if I have a message like that you had. The SigmaStudio 3.6 stable version crashes constantly when copy/paste dense hierarchical boards, so I was affraid to try a beta version.

The compiler_output file (in the IC1_projectname\net_list_out folder) had the results of the last compile before I added the excessive blocks, suggesting that the compiler does not update this when errors occur.

I have noticed that, when the compiler fails no output file is generated. A feature to help developers was requested here https://ez.analog.com/message/51254#51254

However, you can take out a few items until your project fits, compile and then look in the compiler_output file to see how close you are to the limit, and how much you can reasonably add.

Yes, I did it. I have discovered an interesting behaviour. I was using alot of 1 Channel Mono Switches (Toolbox > Multiplexers / Demultiplexers > Mono Switch Nx1opic) and they are consuming alot of program memory. I replaced this switch to an arrangement of two Mutes and a Signal Add. Now the program compiles and fits in memory. If the SigmaStudio provide a output log even when the code is bigger than RAM, could be easier to discover wich blocks are consuming more resources.

I appreciate your help Bob, thank you.

Regards,

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

I tried compiling an oversize project and got this error box:

My error box doesn't even mention an err.dat file (I'm running SigmaStudio 3.7.3 beta), and no such file was generated either. The compiler_output file (in the IC1_projectname\net_list_out folder) had the results of the last compile before I added the excessive blocks, suggesting that the compiler does not update this when errors occur. However, you can take out a few items until your project fits, compile and then look in the compiler_output file to see how close you are to the limit, and how much you can reasonably add. You need to save a few extra bytes of program memory to accommodate needs such as safeload writes.

Bob
