Thread Summary

The user asked how to read the Seven Band Level Detector values via I2C and noted the absence of an ON/OFF register. The final answer explained that the level values are stored in specific registers (SevenBandLevelDet20010_1 to SevenBandLevelDet20016_1) and that the algorithm runs continuously. The engineer suggested using a custom filter bank with envelope cells and DSP readback cells for more efficient implementation.

Is it possible to read the Seven Band Level Detector registers via I2C to obtain the values that would be displayed if you were in SigmaStudio?

I note that there is an ON/OFF switch on the level detector, but I don't see a corresponding ON/OFF register when looking at the level detector block in my _PARAM.h file.

I also note there are a lot more registers associated with the seven band level detector in the _PARAM.h file than I would have expected. I expected one register for each band, and there appears to be five registers per band, plus some others.

Here is the seven band level detector from my _PARAM.h file. http://pastie.org/3740261

How do I activate it and read the 7 levels?

The addresses that contain the level for each of the bands are named:

SevenBandLevelDet20010_1

SevenBandLevelDet20011_1

SevenBandLevelDet20012_1

SevenBandLevelDet20013_1

SevenBandLevelDet20014_1

SevenBandLevelDet20015_1

SevenBandLevelDet20016_1

There is no on/off parameter. That GUI control basically tells SigmaStudio to start reading or stop reading. It doesn't actually enable/disable the algorithm. The algorithm is running at all times in the DSP.

It might be more efficient and better suit your needs to make your own filter bank and use envelope cells followed by DSP readback cells to implement this function. That's described in this post:

Hello,

This old post linked to in the response was very old and no longer is on the forum. However, it was translated into an FAQ so you can find that post here:
