Hello,

What would be the best way to implement the X-curve equilization in adau1701.

Thanks in advance.

I hadn't heard of this standard, but I looked it up and found this reference: http://en.wikiaudio.org/X_curve

It sounds like you need a rolloff of 3 dB per octave. That's much less of a rolloff than our built-in first- and second-order IIR filters, so I think the standard filter libraries in SigmaStudio would not be much help.

One option would be to use the FIR filter, but I don't have the expertise in filter design to know how to achieve the curve you wish. Perhaps a textbook on FIR filter design or a Matlab FIR design toolbox could provide the answer.

Thanks for your early reply.

Can it be made possible to add an interface to the general filters to set the response using a graph just like those in the compressors?

I am an analog designer and reading through digital filter design would be very painfull

b.t.w. any updates on when the new USBi interface would be available?

It is only a matter of time that my USB sockets on my pc will come off due to frequent plugging and un plugging.

Would a reset button of some sort on the USBi help?

The parametric EQ will help you to visualize filter responses.

You might be able to approximate the X-Curve using that cell, but I don't think it will be possible to match it exactly. Here's an example of using low-Q shelf filters to approximate a slow roll-off high-pass.

The new USBi design is completed, but we won't receive the actual hardware until the design is sent off to the PCB manufacturer, and the timing of that is based on the requirements for new board build schedules. So, unfortunately, I don't have a date for you. I hope the USBi doesn't cause you too much more trouble.
