Documentation for Superbass algorithm?
I recently upgraded to SigmaStudio 3.5 (r7) and noticed this interesting new algorithm, among others.
There doesn't seem to be any description of it in the help files or online documentation. I understand there might be some IP issues that prevent complete documentation, but surely there is at least a basic description of what this algorithm does, and how the parameters affect the results?
Superbass is a psychoacoustic bass enhancement algorithm. I will ask the software team for a simple explanation of the parameters.
In my understanding...
SB On/Off: Activates or bypasses the algorithm
Xover Freq: Sets the frequency below which signals are considered to be in the "bass" range. These signals will be used for the bass enhancement algorithm. Higher harmonics of these signals will be generated above the crossover frequency, giving the impression of increased bass.
Intensity: This controls how much gain is applied to the artificially generated higher harmonics (above the crossover frequency).
Bass Gain: This allows you to additionally apply a gain directly to the signal below the crossover frequency.
I will verify if this understanding is correct or not.
The software team agrees with this definition of parameters.
Many thanks!
And the 2 inputs and 2 outputs are what? Stereo signals? There's no mono version?
It seems from experimenting that if you flip both inputs and outputs, the same signal results, so it's a stereo input and it mixes the two channels somewhat (but not to mono) before it outputs stereo.
Yes, that's correct. The current implementation is stereo.
