Thread Summary

The user encountered issues using the NLMS adaptive filter block in Sigmastudio with the EVAL-ADAU1X61EBZ dev board, as the block was prematurely released and lacked documentation. The support team confirmed the algorithm was updated in version 3.5, and recommended trying the new version. Documentation for the NLMS filter is now available on the Analog Devices Wiki, and the user should refer to it for detailed configuration and troubleshooting.

Hello all,

I'm trying to use the NLMS adaptive filter block in Sigmastudio with my AD dev board EVAL-ADAU1X61EBZ.

However, the block is not present in the help system, and the inputs and outputs are not labelled, so I'm not sure how to use it.

Is there some documentation available for this block? I included a screenshot of the block and numbered the inputs and ouputs in case that may help.

Thank you

Hawkward, I just checked on this and our software team says that they accidentally made this algorithm "go live" before it was completed. In the next beta, there should be an updated version of this algorithm included. The new toolbox location will be: Filters -> FIR -> Adaptive

The software team stressed that the algorithm is not quite ready yet, but I can at least show you how each pin functions.

Hopefully we can come up with a fully functional demo project soon.

For now, here is an example of how the algorithm will work.

Please consider this algorithm to be a "work-in-progress" for the time being.

Hello BrettG,

I see...Thank you very much, that is very helpful, I'll be sure to try it out.

A few other things though :

1- What about the orange output that you left out?

2- The ''result'' button that brings up a sine in a dialog window?

3- The ''button 1'' button in that window.

Also, how soon would the beta release estimated date be?

Thanks,

Hello again BrettG,

I did try the small demo and it is not working at all for me unless I left something out.

I understand what you said about it being a WIP, but did someone try the demo in the screenshot or not? From reading what you said I am unsure if I should expect it to work a little or not.

The speaker signal I used was white noise at first, then a different tone from the desired signal, there is no cancellation, and it is more like distortion.

Thanks,

It looks like the algorithm was not working very well in version 3.4. It has been updated for 3.5. I listened to a demo yesterday and it sounded quite good. Please try it out when the 3.5 beta hits the website.

Hello BrettG,

I also have the same question you've answered above, NLMS block in sigma studio, but the image you uploaded in this answer is not clear enough to see its details in my browser, Safari. Can you upload this image again with high resolution?

Thanks a lot.

Hello stoneli2020,

Unfortunately Brett left the company about six years ago. I looked into his old files on the server and did not find this project. When we migrated the forum onto a new platform the image was not properly translated. There is now some documentation on the Wiki that might help.

https://wiki.analog.com/resources/tools-software/sigmastudio/toolbox/filters/filterednlmsfilter

There are some other posts on the forum so do a search and that may also help.

Sorry for the issues.
