Some block to drive SPI devices from the software?
Hello,
Looking into SigmaStudio help, I have found that there is a block (on demand) for driving a stereo LED level meter using an external A6276EA chip from Allegro.
a) How can we get this block?
b) Is there a way to do a similar thing, as for example driving the A6276 output channels individually or, better, to use a standard shift-register with SPI-like interface (clock, load, data in) to connect external devices such as LED indicators and gain control to them individually? (not necessarily for audio level metering as the mentioned block does)
Thanks!
Unfortunately, the block described in the help file is obsolete and we are no longer able to support it. Its description will be removed in the next revision of the help file.
You may be able to implement an SPI-like interface on the SigmaDSP's MPx pins using blocks such as timers, conditionals, and logic cells, but it likely won't be a very efficient implementation. This isn't the sort of application the multipurpose pins were designed to do, so there isn't an easy, direct SigmaStudio cell implementation in the libraries.
Thanks a lot. This clarifies the question.
A pity, it would be very nice to have a very simple SPI like (CLK, DATAIN/OUT and LOAD) interface to control external shift-registers, this would allow very easily expanded digital i/o to the system for controlling a lot of LED's, many more pushbuttons, etc.
Perhaps you can think about a software block to do this in a future version.
Hi,
I join the request.
I've an external GPIO board to my ADAU1446 dev.board. There is a footprint for this IC and LEDs and I tought already about use these LEDs.
For example I have a project, where I'd like to use 16 LEDs to display 8 channel signal/peak state. It would be easy to use this IC with a simple DSP module.
I know Allegro's A6276E is obsolete, but there are some ICs which pin, package and functional compatible with it, like TI's TLC5926, TLC5927. These ICs are cheap and simple solution to drive multiple LEDs.
Thanks!
