I am considering the sigmadsp processor with sigmastudio to do some elaborate filtering. I can see that the filtering part will work fine. To design the filter, the first step is to send a tone out to the system of interest and record the response data.

Can I record the response data to a tone from the A/D channels onto the host computer in an ascii format or something I can access with Matlab?

Also, are there any plans or can I already target this hardware using Matlab's xPC target?

Thanks,
Steve

SigmaStudio is a programming and tuning tool for the SigmaDSPs; it does not have access to the actual audio data that's being processed in the IC. In order to record audio data on your PC you will need a sound card or some other data acquisition tool. The digital outputs from the SigmaDSP are in a stereo audio format like I2S or multi-channel TDM.

There is not a Matlab interface to the SigmaDSPs.

OK thanks. If I could ask you one more question related to the task- If I design my filters as discrete transfer functions (vector of numerator coefficients, vector of denominator coefficients and a sample time), is there a block to implement those in SigmaStudio?

Thanks,

Steve

The general filter block has an option for you to directly enter your own IIR filter coefficients. You can either write these directly in the cells for the a and b coefficients, or you can read the filter coefficients from a file.
