Very Unhappy with my usbi
I've already had one usbi unit failure within 2 weeks so i purchased 2 more units.
This morning i tryed to restart a project and within 30min the second unit as died.
They Seem to fail after programing and disconnecting the usbi from the target board.
Are they some tips to avoid this happening to my 3rd and last programmer
I also can't seem to program an external eeprom 24lc16b within the design studio can anybody tell me what setting i should use tryed page size 256 and memory size 16 but reads, i've also pulled wp pin to vss.
My other question is can i buy any other development kit / programmer which does not use the usbi unit to finnish my projects?
I'm using ADAU1701 dsp.
looking at other eval kit it looks like you also make a programmer using a ftdi chip and a pic16f877 is it possible to buy one of these or provide hex file for the pic to make one myself?
Please forgive my reply. I did not understand your reference to usbi.
Hello BobK,
The USBi is the interface to program the SigmaDSP Processors
http://www.analog.com/static/imported-files/application_notes/AN-1006.pdf
The USBi is used as the USB-to-SPI/I2C interface for all of our audio evaluation boards (SigmaDSP, ADCs, DACs, codecs), as well as for these ICs in your own design. The link CelsoSC has provided above points to the application note detailing the use and functionality of the USBi board.
The FTDI-based USB interface board is a previous design that we are no longer building or supporting.
Dean - have you uninstalled and reinstalled the USBi driver after you've had one of the boards stop working? That's a pretty generic solution, but we've found many times that that will get everything working again. When you're having this problem, are you working with the evaluation board, or with your own design? Are there any other I2C devices on the bus other than the USBi microcontroller, the ADAU1701 SigmaDSP and the EEPROM? If this is your own design, it might be helpful for us to have a look at your schematic. You can either post it here, or if you'd like to keep it confidential you can send it in an email to sigmadsp@analog.com.
Please see this new post on the forum that describes a possible cause of a failing USBi board: How to Avoid Corrupting the USBi's EEPROM
I sent 2 usbi board back for repair over 3 months ago still got nothing back
great service
Hi Cubyte,
I haven't received any shipments from you, at least not that I know of. I'll contact you by private message to try to figure out what went wrong and arrange replacements.
Brett

This is very disappointing i will never you this company again and you may remove me from the forum
