EEPROM selection for ADAU1701
The clock speed from ADAU1701 to the EEPROM is specified in the datasheet as:
The ADAU1701 generates SCL at 8 × fS; therefore, for a fS of 48 kHz, SCL runs at 384 kHz.
I'm planning to use a fs of 96 kHz and from above I should expect SCL to get doubled to 768 kHz. The number of available EEPROM devices get very restricted since most are specified to use max 400 kHz. On the evaluation board for the 1701 there is a std EEPROM and to me it works ok although I haven't been able to measure the actual SCL clock frequency.
What EEPROM speed should be used with fs=96 kHz to feel safe?

Many EEPROMs support the 400 kHz "fast mode" I2C communication, but there are some that will support >1 MHz clock rates. The EEPROM on the ADAU1701 evaluation boards is a Microchip 24AA256, which supports a maximum clock frequency of 400 kHz. They have another EEPROM in the same family, the 24FC256, that supports a 1 MHz clock frequency. I would recommend an EEPROM such as this one if you need to run your system with a 96 kHz sampling rate.
