Hello,

I have a new notebook, what I bought with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit operating system.

I can install Sigma Studio 3.1, but after installation it can not be run.

I got this error message:

Description:
Stopped working

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: SStudio.exe
Application Version: 3.1.9.289
Application Timestamp: 4add8222
Fault Module Name: KERNELBASE.dll
Fault Module Version: 6.1.7600.16385
Fault Module Timestamp: 4a5bdfe0
Exception Code: e0434f4d
Exception Offset: 000000000000aa7d
OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.28
Locale ID: 1038

Maybe the problem is with the 64bit system? But other 32bit software working perfectly under 64bit operating system.

I am not tested on Windows 7 32bit.

Thank You!

Gabor

Unfortunately, we do not yet support SigmaStudio under Windows 7. At this time, the supported operating systems are Windows XP and Vista. We do expect to support Windows 7 in the future. We will be sure to post a notice on this forum when SigmaStudio is officially supported under Windows 7.

Did you try to compile sigmastudio with the x86 option ?

some .NET application I wrote in the past works with this trick.

The issue is not getting the software to properly compile under Window 7. At this time, we are just not prepared to support SigmaStudio under this new OS. Our software team is working on this development and we will post updates on this forum when SigmaStudio in Windows 7 is supported.

Dear all,

waiting for a solution from the Analog developers I found a way to run sigmastudio under 7 64 bit

I installed the application, after that I used a progmam : "xenocode obfuscator" and I create a compiled version of sigmastudio that works!

Dear Stefano,

Thank You for the investigations and the answers.

I am interested in Your solution. I think this will be a good solution until the official version of SigmaStudio what will be supported under Windows 7 come out.

So I would be grateful if You can attach this patch version of sigmastudio.

I download this free version of xenocode obfuscator, but it is a little bit high for me

Best regards,

Gabor

I forgot to give you an important information:

sigmastudio works, I'm using the sw to build the configuration for a fw implementation.

The drivers for the board comunication doesn't work in windows 7 64bit!

Until SigmaStudio is officially supported in Windows 7, there are some things you may want to try if you have to use this new OS. You can try to run or install SigmaStudio in compatibility mode so that it can run as a Windows XP or Vista application. If you have certain versions of Windows 7, you may also be able to install a Windows XP virtual machine to allow programs to run in that environment.

the compatibility issues are with windows 7 64bit. the main problem is related with the usb drivers, but also the program doesn't start. I solve the second problem with a trick, the driver is still a problem

I installed Sigma Studio 3.1 on my Win7 Ultimate 32 workstation and it works just fine. I have been running it for over a week now. The only issue I had was the default shortcut on the desktop does not give me an option to run as an adminstrator. The program has to be elevated to run so I just created an elevated Task to start the app. Now I just double click on that shortcut and the program starts without UAC confirmation.

This FAQ will be updated when SigmaStudio is supported in Windows 7. Until then, Analog Devices unfortunately cannot provide support for that OS beyond the suggestions that we've made here in this post.

Stefano,

The original post does not address the 32 bit version so I posted my response for those that see the title of the thread (which is vague) and wonder about the 32 bit OS.
