Compressor with external GPIO control input
Hi @ all,
for my audio project with the ADAU1701 I need a compressor with an external "trigger" input.
The audio power amplifier I used (TDA1562Q) has a "diagnostic" pin. This is an o/c output which is activated during the distortions of the speaker output signal rises up to more than 1%. I will use a GPIO pin as input for this diagnostic pin (incl. a resistor for pull up) and a compressor block with external detection input which limits the signal depending from the frequency of the diagnostic pulses. The simple question is how to connect this GPIO input to the external detection pin of the compressor block for correct working.

Hi Thomas,
It seems that your design would not want the clip flag from the amplifier to go directly to the compressor's detector input, but rather you want that clip flag to trigger the compressor to be enabled. I think that you could achieve this by using the clip flag on a GPIO input to trigger a switch. The default path of the switch would bypass the compressor, but when the clip flag is enabled, the signal path would be switched to go through the compressor.
If you use the Clickless SW Slew switches (under Muxes/Demuxes / Multiplexers / Index Selectable), then the switching between the two signal paths will be smooth (no clicks). Do you think that this solution will work for your application?
