ADAU1466 sef boot
A customer is testing the ADAU1466, with our eval board, and having troubles with the self booting (the loading from tool is OK).
They follow the suggested procedure...ie
4. Before downloading the self boot data to the EEPROM, click the Link-Compile-Download button.
5. When writing to the EEPROM, set the self boot switch (Position 1 of Switch S3) to the disabled position.
6. Right click the empty white space in the ADAU1466 IC block in the
Hardware Configuration tab of SigmaStudio. From the menu that appears,
select Self-boot Memory, then Write Latest Compilation through DSP.
To execute a self boot operation, take the following steps:
1. Set the self boot switch (S2) to enabled (S2 seems not to be the self-boot switch)
2. Press and release the RESET push-button (S1).
A self boot operation is then performed, and the ADAU1466 runs a program.
At this stage there seems to be no running process on the processor, so no audio output.
Are they doing anything wrong?

Hello,
The clue surrounds switch S2 and E2PROM U10 in the board's schematic:
The switch needs to enable U10 -- otherwise the E2PROM never gets selected for reading or writing. Set switch S2 toward its "S2" designation on the board before doing anything else. Then repeat the self-boot instructions from the beginning. Ignore the late reference to S2 in the instructions, actually S3-1 is the self-boot switch and D7 lights when in self-boot mode. I got my -1466Z board to self-boot this way.
Best regards,
Bob
Hello Salvatore,
I think you have an earlier version of the user guide that is for an early version of the eval board.
Bob, is correct that S3 - 1 should be the selfboot switch. S2 on my eval board is used to select the mode of selfbooting, I2C or SPI. But even the board in front of me is older. We just released to production the new evaluation boards that hopefully will not require changing for a while.
So let us know if there are still some issues. You are just on the bleeding edge of what we are doing here.
Thanks,
Dave T
