I am trying to implement Time weightings Fast and slow as written in IEC61672 with ADAU1761 SIGMA DSP but didn't get a satisfatory result.

The idea is make a noise measurement equipment.

Fast time constant is 1s and to slow time constant is 125ms. About 34db/s to fast and 3 db/s to slow.

I have already tried to implement exponential averaging with these time constants but the result is wrong.

Using signal average envelope works fine to attack time, but not to release time, because attack is in dB and release is linear. Both should be equals (db/s).

I'd like to know if somebody can help me with this chalenge.

Regards.

MCRR.

Hello MCRR,

Perhaps the two-stage solution described at https://ez.analog.com/dsp/sigmadsp/f/q-a/65455/adau1761---signal-envelope-attack-and-decay-in-db-s would work for you. The first stage handles the dB/S attack. The second provides an accurate dB/S decay.

Best regards,

Bob
