ADSP-21569
Hi,
My company develops audio mixer applications based on the SHARC ADSP-2148x DSP. We use visualDSP++ and USB-ICE/ICE1000 for its development. Recently we came to know about the new 1GHz ADSP-21569 DSP. We are considering the possibility of migrating from 2148x to 21569 as we need more processing power. My question is can we use visualDSP++ and ICE1000 for the ADSP - 21569 development ? or do we have to migrate our code base to CCES ?
Could you please provide more insight on this ?

Hi Aswin,
Regarding,"My question is can we use visualDSP++ and ICE1000 for the ADSP - 21569 development ? or do we have to migrate our code base to CCES ?"
>> No, the ADSP-21569 processor will not support VDSP, it supports only CCES. Please refer the Software & Systems Requirements tab in the ADSP-21569 webpage.

While migrating from VDSP to CCES, there are a number of ways in which VisualDSP++ applications differ from CCES applications: RTOS, interrupt handling, SSL/DD APIs, and more. If your VisualDSP++ application uses such mechanisms, you have to make corresponding changes to your application's source code before the application can build in CCES. Similarly, if your application uses a customized LDF, the LDF may make references to libraries that are not used in CCES, or omit ones that are.
More information about importing VisualDSP++ project files into CrossCore Embedded Studio is available at:

We would also recommend reading the Getting Started with CrossCore Embedded Studio FAQ:

These videos are also indexed on the CrossCore Embedded Studio product page.

We suggest you to download and install the BSP (Board support package) for ADSP-21569 in the given below link. Once you installed you can find SPDIF example code in the below path. You can refer this code to develop application code for ADSP-21569.
BSP link: download.analog.com/.../ADI_ADSP-2156x_EZ-KIT-Rel1.0.0.exe
Example code is available in the below installation path of ADSP-2156x BSP.
