Certain module addresses not appearing in <projectname>PARAM.h or <projectname>.params

I have a project in SigmaStudio 4.5 for the ADAU1452 using the "Abs Max Hold" module and I can see in the capture window params tab that it has a parameter called heldMax.

This parameter holds the value so in theory I don't need to add a DSP readback module and can therefore save 3 instructions.

However, nothing about the module appears in the PARAM.h or .params file, no heldfMAx, no Cell name, no nothing.

So I will have to add it by hand, and keep it up-to-date myself, a task which I guarauntee I will *** up, but the computer won't.

One possible workaround is to add it to the indirect parameter access table, but I might not want to use that.

Am I missing something?

Cheers

Alex

Hello Alex,

This is something that fell through the cracks when the programmer was programming it. All "internal" variables are not always brought out in the system output files, that would blow up the size of the files. Since the intention of this cell is to provide the output on a pin the programmer would have never thought that someone would want to save 3 instructions. So they did not bring it out.

The work-around for you is to manually input the address into your system controller. Obviously, if you make changes in the program you will have to check if the address changed. Yes, you could place this parameter into the parameter access table but each "Read Enabled" parameter in that table uses 13 instructions per frame so you are much better off using a Readback.

Are you getting close to the max instructions in your program? If you like I can review it.

Hi Dave,

I have since found that the address is in the <projectname>ParamAddress.dat file.

Cross matching that with the information in <projectname>_Netlist.xml gives me what I need with a little python scripting.

If I had only one of these, then I might take the 3 instr hit, but I have 20.

Cheers
