Hi,

I am trying to design one pre-amp with ADAU1452,

but the DAC which I choose is using PCM format to input.

As other project, I always use I2S input and output, so I am not really familiar how to set PCM as the DSP output.

Any guide for this? cause I search the datasheet, it said that the 1452 can support the PCM format for in/output.

Thanks!

BR.

Alvis

Hi Alvis,

SigmaDSP uses PCM to encode audio data. PCM describes encoding, but not a communications protocol.

I2S, LJ, and TDM are some of the communications protocols SigmaDSP can use to transport PCM.

We can provide more information if you tell us the DAC you are using.

Joshua

Hello Joshua,

Thank you for your reply!

The DAC which I am using is WolfSon WM8741

Sorry for the late reply!

Thank you!

Hi Alvis,

I took a (very) quick look at the datasheet. The following is from Page 22:

The "PCM" interface is named PCM simply because it describes PCM-coded data. At the physical layer, the WM8741 accepts the encodings LJ, RJ, I2S, DSP mode A, or DSP mode B.

LJ or I2S are the best combination with ADAU1452. It looks like there are some limitations within the WM8741 when RJ is selected (32-bit data is not supported).

Let me know if this makes sense.

Regards,

Joshua

PS, I haven't taken the time to compare the timing specifications- I'll leave that to you.
