The user asked if the SLEW setting in SigmaStudio can be written once after boot and not re-sent each time filter coefficients are updated to avoid audio corruption. The final answer confirms that the SLEW setting does not need to be re-written and suggests using a 'safeload' mechanism to update EQ coefficients without causing distortion.

When writing DSP filter coefficients SigmaStudio writes the Slew each time a new filter co-efficient is written the the DSP. (for example when changing Eq setting).

When we send both coeffs and slew we get occasional corruption of audio (severe distortion).

Can we write the SLEW setting once after boot as set-and-forget and not send each time we change co-effs?

*Disappointingly my previous post has not been answered for two weeks so I'm trying to dilute it down to the most simple question in the hope that ADI will confirm it.

Hi

you dont need to re-write the slew every time you change the Eq Settings

You can just setup the EQ how you want it in the Sigma Studio.

On first Load of the entire DSP it will have the slew set.

Then just ensure that you use a "safeload" mechanism to write the EQ co-efficients to change the EQ curve.

The safe load mechanism will ensure that ALL the values are loaded at once.

Thanks
