Project Stops Running after about 1 minute. 1452, Tone, Parametric EQ, Stimulus/Probe
I am running a simple project with a couple GPIO pins to illuminate the onboard LEDS (as a visual 'hearbeat' that the app is running), a couple 5 band parametric EQs and Level Controls. I also have two Stimulus/Probe blocks in the project.
[Sigma Studio 4.7, Win10, ADAU1451MINIZ]
The project compiles and downloads satisfactorily, but after less than a minute, the project stops - evidenced by no longer passing audio and the LEDs no longer blinking. I am not manipulating anything in Sigma Studio.
Thank you for your assistance in this matter.pass signalf.dspproj

Hello MCSP,
How are you powering up the board? Using the DC connector or any other source?
The input voltage must range between 5V to 7V and it must be able to source at least 1.5A of current. It might be a power failure somewhere. So please check if every part is getting enough voltage to run.
Another thing will be the master clock and PLL part. There may be few causes for the DSP to stop running. Since you are using our eval board and programming from SS, usually there won't be a problem and I hope everything will be fine there.
Please verify the power connections and get back to us.

Harish
Hello Harish:
Thank you for the reply.
The board is being powered by the supply that came with the EVAL1452MIN. (12VDC, 1.5A).
The eval board is connected via the provided USBi board via a USB connector to a Win10 machine.
Yesterday it would sometimes last about 4 minutes. Today it is lasting only about 1 minute.

Hello MCSP,
The EVAL-ADAU1452MINIZ is an older eval board that we have not built for a number of years, 4 maybe five years? So where did you obtain this board? It should NOT have a 12V power supply, it should have a 6V supply. I think the regulator on the board may be getting too hot and shutting down.

Hi Dave:
Thank you for the reply. I purchased the board from Digikey a few years ago. I've got a number of them here and will double-check all of the supplies.

Dave:
Holy Shucks!!! Thank you so much for paying attention to my details!!!
I did find a 6V wart here - This 12V one I have is physically identical to the 6V ones that ADI supplies!
My sincerest apologies for this diversion!!!
I've connected the 6V one and the app is running fine for now.
If you don't hear from me, things are fine!!!
Cheers!

Hello MCSP,
I FULLY understand how this can happen! We do have some eval boards that use a 12V supply and they do look the same! What I do is put a big tape label on the 12V ones warning that it is 12V. It is easy on my desk that often has a pile of eval boards on it to just grab a power supply end and use it. So that is why I put the label right by the connector. The good news is that it looks like the board was not damaged.
Good luck with the rest of your project!
Dave T
Dave:
Thanks again - the Wart has been marked!!!
This is quite a tribute to the ruggedness of the ADI designs; I've been running this for some time on 12VDC!!!
Cheers,
MCSP
