What is the difference between Schematic and BlockSchematic? I found that they support different modules. How can I use them together? The tutorial on the wiki is an old version of SigmaStudio, without BlockSchematic

Hello javaboy,

The schematic page runs every sample period that is known as a stream processing or sample processing whereas the block schematic is processed over many frames (many samples). which means that No of selected samples (length/size of the block) will be loaded into a buffer/block and then the block will be run.

For ex, if the block size is set to 256 then 256 samples will be loaded into the buffer/block, if each sample period is 20.83us (@ 48KHz), then a block of 256 samples will take 256*20.83uS = 5.33ms. You can also calculate like this -> No.of samples/sample rate = 256/48000 = 5.33ms. So, a block will be run every 5.33ms.

The need for block processing is to perform frequency domain operations like FFT etc. This cannot be accomplished easily using stream-oriented processing.

The below screenshot shows how to use Block processing.

Right click on the block input to set the block size. You must understand that how sample and block processing are run in terms of timing.

The frequency domain functionality is limited and mostly used for custom algorithms.

One more thing, this forum is a knowledge ocean, you can search the forum with basic keywords and can find lot of posts on the same topic. that will give you a great idea and gather so many things.

Regards,

Harish
