Dear Team,

We require the following information regarding Tone burst module available in Sigma Studiov4.5 Toolbox.

We have observed that there are two Tone Burst Generators :

Sweep Log with (on/off) switch.

Sweep Log with (on/off) input.

We need to generate a Tone Burst Signal with Sine waves having two levels as shown below:

However, when trying to generate a Tone Burst Signal using " Sweep Log with (on/off) switch " with settings as described below the generated signal is observed as shown below:

Please let us know the correct settings and the correct module that would give us the waveform as shown in Fig 1. Also additionally please detail to us how to set the amplitude levels and duration for the signal that we intend to generate.

Regards,

Hello,

The Sweep modules are set up for frequency sweep, not amplitude sweep. Thus, they won't do what you need. There's no ready-made Tone Burst module, yet you can assemble this function with basic blocks. One example is shown below. SigmaStudio usually offers many ways to perform a function like this -- thus you may find another construct which better fits your application.

Each time pulse generator Pulse1 goes High, it does two things: (a) it sends a 1.0 level via Sub1 to multiplier X1, which gates on a full-level (0 dB) tone. (b) it starts Timer1, which times out after the number of 48K Hz samples set by DC1. The timer's output goes high at timeout, which allows a 0.9 level to subtract from the 1.0 level, resulting in a 0.1 level which represents -20 dB. This generates the second portion of the desired burst signal. Finally, when the pulse output from Pulse1 returns to zero, it both shuts down the audio and resets Timer1. You can change the timing of the bursts by adjusting Pulse1 and DC1 according to the comments in the schematic.

Here's the circuit's output with the settings shown:

The example project is attached below.

Best regards,

Bob
