Dear all

I expected that the only difference between "Simple Router" and "Simple Router with slew", is the slew. In real time capture I see that the controls are completely different to change input.

.

Is that the intention? If so, why? This makes it somewhat complicated to control with a microprocessor.
In addition to the difference, input 8 does not work for me with the simple router with slew. No signal on any output when routed to input 8.

Best regards

Richard

Hello Richard,

It would be great if you could attach your project so I do not have to spend a lot of time trying to replicate this.

I would like for you to try one simple thing. Split up this block into eight gain cells and then one gain cell instead of grown to be nine inputs.

This may make a difference with the issue of nothing on channel 8. Let me know if it makes or does not make any difference.

Regarding the parameters and how it works. The router with and without slew has to be setup differently so you have to control it slightly differently.

The slew engine has to be able to mix the two signals in different proportions as the signal is changed from one input to the other. So therefore it needs to have a gain factor setting for each input being sent to each output.

Here is a screenshot of the parameters of a simple router with only two inputs and one output.

Output gain is the gain factor for the output.

Input select is selecting which input is going to the output. It is simply the input number in 0.32 unsigned integer format. (Hex)

This is simple, it does not need to mix the two, it is one or the other.

By the way, I do not know what InputCopy is. I would have to ask one of the programmers. It did not change as I exercised the controls.

For the simple router with slew. You have this:

This is using a software slew. In this case there is not one but there are two parameters for the two inputs. I suppose I should say there is one gain for each input. This is a gain factor. Set it to 1.0 and it will be unity gain. 0.5 and it is -6dB. So you need to do two writes or one burst write to change both of them. Change one to zero and the other to a 1 and the slew engine will crossfade to these target levels. By the way, you can sum them by having them both on at some gain setting.

The Alpha and om_alpha (one minus alpha) are used for the slew rate. Do not change these unless you know what you want to change it to. You will see these change as you change the slew rate setting.

I hope this helps.

Dear Dave

Thank you for your explanation, now I understand the difference. Too bad there is no simple switch command.

Input 8 does also not work with splitted input gain block. I have attached the project.
