SPDIF Rx/Tx Default LRCLK Polarity
Dear Team,
We are using the ADAU1466 with Sigma Studio v4.6.
We would like to know what is the default LRCLK type and polarity of the SPDIF Rx in the ADAU1466. Is it fixed always(like Negative or Positive,50-50 or Pulse) .?
Are there any settings in Sigma Studio or otherwise wherein we can change the LRCLK Polarity / Type of the SPDIF Rx just like we can do for Serial Ports.
Based on your inputs above we would decide on setting the LRCLK type and Polarity and Type of another DSP that will interface with this SPDIF Rx.
Please provide your feedback on this.
Regards,
Zayn

Hello Zayn,
There is no such thing as an LRCLK type or polarity in an SPDIF signal. It uses bi-phase mark encoding to encode the bit rate and therefore the sample rate. There are no settings required or needed. It is one signal that has all the information, the bit clock, the sampling rate, the user bits, the control bits and of course the audio data. All encoded onto one serial data stream. You can probably find technical details on Wikipedia.
The only little detail is that usually the sample rate of the sending device is not in sync with the receiving device so you either have to lock the DSP rate to the incoming SPDIF sampling rate or go through the ASRC to translate it to the core clock domain.
Usually it does not work out to lock the DSP to the incoming SPDIF rate because you will have other things local in the system like a codec. So it is usually best to run the SPDIF input to the ASRC then to the core.
