Sigma Studio Plus - Load biquads from file as in old Sigma Studio
Hello!
I just started using SigmaStudio Plus. I had limited experience with the old Sigma Studio (by no means a power user yet).
After some frustrations I managed to get it setup to write to my DIY ADAU1466 DSP board.
However, I seem to have hit a wall. In the old sigma studio it was possible to right click on a "2. order general EQ" block and choose: "Open: Load IIR coefficients from file".
I cannot seem to find this functionality in the new SS+. this is what my test schematic looks like.
When I right click on the "2. order eq" blocks I do not see anything similar to that described above. Is it no longer supported? This is an absolutely essential feature for me
Would also wish the Invert and DC block could have more channels as in the old SS though - this is more of a novelty though.
It is really nice to be able to search in the Toolbox - Amazing!

Hello Daniel,
For the filters. Click on the icon for the peaking filter and change it to IIR Coefficient:
After you change it the block will look like this and when you click on the icon this window will open up.
Then there is a "Load" button
Your comment about the blocks being able to add channels is a good suggestion. Many of the blocks allow you to add channels but for some reason they did not do it for these. that is not great because growing can gain instruction advantage by taking advantage of the quad MAC in the part. I will pass on your suggestions.
I want to make a small comment. You had the DC block on the input. For the ADAU1701 with the built in ADC that does not have a HPF built into the ADC you have to (well, it is highly suggested) to use a DC block at the start of your program. When you use external codecs, most of those have built in HPF to remove the DC. this saves you instructions in your program. So check the register settings you are using in the ADC or the Codec to see if you have enabled the built in DC block (HPF) .

Thanks for the quick response.
Okay, that sort of works. only I have to load each indivivual biquad. In the old SS you can load as many as you want at once. Here I have to click each filter an manually load each biquad. I even have to make a .txt file for each individual biquad? Am I doing something wrong?
If not then this is too much of a step back for me to use SS+. The original feature from SS is to essential for me to considder SS+.
Yes I see many have the function of channels and like that it can be picked from a drop down instead of the old style. Just a shame it has been removed from some blocks.
Aaah okay, thanks for the headsup on the DC block. I don't expect to be running out of memory on the 1466, but good thing to know anyway!
One last comment. Is it just me or is SS+ very slow compared to SS? when I press "link, compile, download" it was near instant in SS and in SS+ it takes quite a while (for the exact same program). Writing the program to the EEPROM through the DSP is way faster and better work flow in SS+ though.
Cheers, Daniel
Am I missing something or is there no longer a way to import multiple biquads from one TXT file in SS+?
DaveThib Is there a way to load multible biquads from a single text file as it is possible in the old SS?
Hello Daniel,
Thanks for taking the time to write the details of what you are finding and causing more work for you. I will forward this over to the SS+ software design team so they are aware of customer pain points.
Unless I am also missing something it does not look like you can load in the coefficients from one file. This is something to change and being able to grow the channels is also important.
Your observation about the work flow for writing to the EEPROM through the DSP is understandable. The original SS was designed for the older SigmaDSPs where the EEPROM is directly connected to the USBi. So when we came out with the Sigma300 parts they had to rethink the process and patch it into the existing SS structure. When SS+ was designed the Sigma300/350 already existed, so they planned for it from the start.
I do not know why the compile command takes longer. SS+ is setup to have a better overview of a system with boards so that might be part of it.

Okay, sorry to hear that. Was hoping it was just me being blind xD But thanks for claring it out.
Thanks for forwarding it as a user request and thanks for the additional info :)
