Is it possible to implement a Wiener Filter and store noise estimated samples in SigmaStudio?

Thread Summary

The user asked if it's possible to store estimated noise values in a buffer on the ADAU1467 evaluation board using SigmaStudio for real-time processing in a Wiener filter. The final answer states that SigmaDSPs, including the ADAU1467, do not have buffers or memory to store values for later use; all processing must occur within each sample period. The user can route the filter's output to other modules, but storing and referencing past samples is not supported.

I’m working on implementing a Wiener filter on an ADAU1467 evaluation board using SigmaStudio. I want to estimate the noise spectrum and store the estimated values so that I can use them in the filter's gain calculation (e.g., G = (S-N)/S , where S is signal power and N is noise power).

My question is
Is there a way to store these estimated noise values inside a buffer or place and then reference them in real-time as part of the processing equation?

Hello Tamim,

SigmaDSPs are streaming/sample processors, the entire schematic will run every sample period. So, a new sample will come in and get processed and go out in that respective sample period. if your sample rate is 48KHz then the schematic runs 48K times with 48K new input samples. The samples can be delayed for some sample periods if you are using delay blocks or filters etc. But you really can't store any values inside the DSP, there are no buffers or memory available that let you store the values that can be used later.

You can route the filter's output to any other module for processing, but all modules (whole schematic) will be processed within that sample period. No matter how big your project is, an input sample will be processed thru all modules within that sample period.

So, storing some sample values and using it later is not possible.
