Beginner DSP Build with ADAU1701 – Need Optimization Advice
Hi everyone,
I'm new to SigmaStudio and DSP audio design in general, and I’ve just finished setting up my first project. I’d love to hear feedback from more experienced users on how I can improve or optimize my design.
What I'm using:
DSP board: Wondom JAB5 (ADAU1701)
Tweeter: FaitalPro HF111
Woofer: FaitalPro 8FE200 4 Ohm
Enclosure: 12 mm MDF with a vented design
Ports: See WinISD screenshots for tuning (around 69 Hz)
What I’ve implemented:
Separate signal paths for LoFi and HiFi
Parametric EQs for woofer and tweeter (double precision)
Crossover + compressor blocks
Dynamic bass boost
GPIO volume control with soft slew rate
My goals:
Get the best possible sound quality out of this setup
Keep things power-safe (limiting, clipping prevention)
Below are some screenshots of my SigmaStudio project and my enclosure simulation in WinISD. Any suggestions regarding filter alignment, limiter setup, compressor thresholds, volume control techniques, or structural DSP flow would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello Nick001,
Have you found my YouTube channel yet? Some of the topics you mentioned I have yet to produce videos on but some of it I have.
How to SigmaDSP and SigmaStudio - YouTube
I do want to make one comment. The DC block is in the wrong place. It is at the end of your signal chain so all the EQ and volume controls and any switching all has DC involved.
The ADAU1701 ADC converter does not have a HPF built into it. Many ADC converter do and if you are using one that has it I suggest you enable it.
So for the 1701 the very first thig in your signal flow should be to remove this DC offset from the ADC.
Then you will not need it after this in your signal flow.
I would like to comment further with your post but I am very busy today so I will leave it to others to chime in!!
