Run Two AECs in a Feedback Loop – Compilation Error
Trying to Run Two AECs in a Feedback Loop – Compilation Error
Hey everyone,
We’re working on an audio system where we need to run two acoustic echo cancellers (AECs) at the same time, set up in a feedback loop. The idea is to cancel out both internal and external echoes using two mics and two audio paths.
The problem is: as soon as we try to compile the setup with both AECs active, it throws an error. The only workaround we’ve found so far is to connect one of the AECs to an alternative input that isn’t quite accurate — which obviously affects the results.
So I’m wondering:
Is there any kind of component (delay, buffer, gain, etc.) we can add to the loop to avoid the error and still keep both AECs active and functioning properly?
If anyone has run into something similar or knows a good workaround, any help would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hello Raul,
You did not mention what the error actually said. but, I am guessing it was complaining about a feedback loop?
You see the program needs to run fully every sample period and when it has to take two values and do something with them it needs both values right then! If one of them is a result from processing done after that point (feedback) then it does not have the number yet!
How we solve that problem is with a one sample period delay otherwise called a Feedback cell. So the result from the previous sample period is used earlier in the program.
Here is where you find it:
If the error was about a feedback loop this should fix it.
Here is an example of me using it in a program. Although I was using it as a one sample delay you will get the idea of how to use it.
