External bass and inverted volume control
I'm using an ADAU1701/1401 for my latest speaker project, and I soon enough found info on this forum about external bass control after not being able to do it myself. What I implemented was that 0-12 index circuit, multiplying the ADC output by 28.0 format dc block, feeding that into a 13 band 2nd order ext filter. Has worked great and I love it.
But I want to change something. I've put the volume at a safe level to prevent my drivers from going past their excursion limits, but this level is quite low, so when not listening with bass on full blast (which is most of the time), there is a lot of potential for more volume that's not being used. So I want the volume gain to be inversly-proportional to bass gain, to allow for louder playback at lower bass levels.. but I have not been successful. I've tried : index lookup table (1 - 13 and 13 - 1) and signal invert block (separate attempts) to the same type of filter for ensured compatability (trial ended in a horrible screeching sound or some awful pulses), ext gain block with inverted signal straight from the ADC, couldn't get it to invert and volume was really low. After countless failed runs, I got scared of bricking or breaking something, knowing I don't know enough yet to take this on.
I'm asking for guidance and, maybe, a circuit that could achieve my goal.
Thanks.

Hello Linkono,
This post is a rich source of a lot of info. We do have a block that does this.

The post also talks about other ways to do this.

Hi Dave. I think I may have not described my original problem well enough.
Anyway, I figured it out on my own. All I did was use the same ADC, just added a connection to rout it also to a EXT volume control block with a linear interpolator in between, to make the relationship inverse.
