ADSP SHARK
Hello, I'm wondering which Shark processor is more powerful/instruction-counting than the adau1466/67? I saw that Shark processors require a JTAG programmer, but some support SigmaStudio and USBi. Is it even possible to upload a project without a JTAG programmer using SigmaStudio and USBi?

SHARC DSPs are powerful than SigmaDSPs in terms of instruction cycles.
SigmaDSPs (1452/1466/1467) have a core clock of 294.912MHz which gives you 6144 instructions per sample period at 48KHz.
In SHARC, if you take 2156x series it has the core clock of up to 1GHz.
if you take SC58x series, it goes up to 500MHz clock for each SHARC core. (this SC58x series have 1 ARM core and 2 SHARC cores).
The 21593, SC594, SC598 series also can go up to 1GHz.
Reg using USBi and Sigmastudio with SHARC,
The USBi and Sigma studio port given in the Ezkit is used for sigma studio for SHARC interfacing. The SHARC needs debug agent (ICE-1000/2000) and CCES for framework and other programming setups.
For sigma studio for SHARC interfacing, you will need sigma studio with SHARC extension and CCES, both are needed.
Sigma studio alone is not capable of programming SHARC without CCES (with debug agent). The sigma studio and USBi is a supporting part for sigma studio for SHARC interfacing.
Refer the sigma studio for SHARC section in the ADI website and if you have query related to that, then feel free to post a query in Sigma studio for SHARC forum.

Thanks for the reply. I mean, is it possible to completely abandon the JTAG programmer (it's very expensive) and writing code manually, and instead use SigmaStudio and the accompanying software, just like for SigmaDSP?
Hello ABanditoz,
Have you thought about which SHARC you might need to use? Your question is rather general. What is your application? The ADAU1467 is a rather powerful processor but if you need to do any decoding of audio, or encoding, and a lot of channels then a SHARC would be needed.
Meanwhile, Harish gave you a lot of good info.
Thanks,

Hi Dave! I'm developing a car audio processor. At 96 kHz, my project takes up almost 50% of the 1452's memory. I tried compiling the same project for 1466, but the situation didn't improve. When switching to 192 kHz, the memory is 95% full. I'd like to use 192 kHz. And that's not all I'd like to add to the project. That's why I was wondering which SHARK processor would work for me. Some car manufacturers use the ADSP-21489, but I'm put off by the fact that SHARK processors require only code and a very expensive JTAG programmer to operate. But I saw that it can be programmed using SigmaStudio. In my case, I'm controlling the adau1452 with an MCU, so maybe that will help.
Hello ABanditoz,
The SHARC algorithms (approximately 150+ modules) were implemented in ASM and C code, which means you’ll need a CCES compiler license to compile the SigmaStudio for SHARC schematic. So you cant use SigmaStudio for SHARC without CCES license. An Algorithm Designer feature is also available, allowing you to create custom algorithms and integrate them as SigmaStudio for SHARC plug-ins. As for JTAG, the latest SOM-CRR-EZ Kit boards include an onboard debug agent, so you can use it directly without purchasing a separate JTAG device.
Hi! Unfortunately, I can't purchase the board you're offering. The only thing I found on AliExpress are these modules. I also saw that the LDR file can be loaded using an MCU. Is this really possible? I'm using an ESP32. The attached photo also shows an ADSP21489. Its processor frequency is higher than the ADAU1466/67. Which parameter controls the number of instructions? Does the 21489 exceed the 6144 instructions of the 1467? Or is it no longer worth considering?
SigmaDSP and SHARC DSP are fundamentally different processors, so a direct comparison based on the number of instructions supported by SigmaDSP is not appropriate. SHARC DSP offers greater processing power, operating at 450 MHz and supporting SIMD instruction set processing.
Regarding the board you mentioned, I am not certain about its details, as we use a different Analog Devices evaluation board. For accurate information, please refer to the SHARC DSP product page and SigmaStudio for SHARC 2.2.0 if you intend to use our audio algorithms.
Kindly note that compiling SHARC DSP schematics requires a valid CCES license; without it, SigmaStudio schematic applications for SHARC DSP cannot be designed.

Hello ABanditoz,
Since you are developing an automotive product I suggest you locate the local Analog Devices office near you and contact them for sales support. They can get you connected with the engineers in the automotive group who can help you with some of these larger questions that are hard to answer here on the forum where you do not want to give too many details and it does get complicated.

Hi, I bought the board I showed earlier. The seller provided a flashing GUI. It supports MCU firmware updates and offers two modes: "normal mode" for use with the manufacturer's GUI, and "custom mode" (USBi) for use with SigmaStudio. The flashing GUI also has an "LDR" button. My question is: if I load the "custom mode" firmware, will SigmaStudio be able to generate an LDR/DXE file that I can then load directly via the flashing GUI?
