Thread Summary

The user encountered a compiler error due to an undefined macro 'SIGMASTUDIOTYPE_8_24_CONVERT' when including the 'xxxxxx_IC_1_PARAM.h' file from a SigmaStudio project in their Host CPU project. The macro is defined in the SigmaStudioFW.h file, which can be found in the example files for interfacing a teensy microcontroller with SigmaDSP. The issue was resolved after the user realized they had accidentally copied symbols that used the macro, instead of the '_ADDR' symbols which are simple numbers.

I have suddenly hit a problem with a SigmaStudio project - after I have done "Link/Compile/Download" (with no errors) I use the menu function to "Export System File.

I then copy the data tables and the "xxxxxx_IC_1_PARAM.h" to my Host CPU project, where the file is #included so that my 'C' code can reference the DSP's parameters in memory symbolically.

Today, for no reason that I can ascertain, my Host CPU compiler has start to generate errors like:

error: implicit declaration of function 'SIGMASTUDIOTYPE_8_24_CONVERT

from lines in the .h file such as:

#define MOD_LINEOUT_RIGHT_LEVEL_20_READBACKALGNEWSIGMA30020VALUE_VALUE SIGMASTUDIOTYPE_8_24_CONVERT(0)

To try and determine why I was looking for where this MACRO (I assume it is a MACRO) is defined in the files that I exported from SigmaStudio

My compiler is not objecting to lines such as

#define MOD_LINEOUT_RIGHT_LEVEL_20_READBACKALGNEWSIGMA30020VALUE_TYPE SIGMASTUDIOTYPE_8_24

So I am assuming that somewhere this a section that defines these TYPES and also the MACRO but I just can't find it.

Any suggestions or guidance will be gratefully accepted

I should add that I expect the problem is being caused by the Host CPU compiler (in this case it's Microchip with their MPLAB.X IDE and xc32 compiler) but I don't think I can present the project to their support engineers until I know where the Macro is defined as this will likely be their first question.

I can also add that I have been using this arrangement of SigmaDSP and Host CPU for numerous projects over the last 6 years, I always follow the same process described in the original post, and this is the first time I've had this problem...

Hello Philipj451,

I have seen this macro in SigmaStudioFW.h file. You can find this header file in the example files of 'teensy uC interfacing with SigmaDSP' in the wiki page here.

But when we usually export the files, three C header files are generated, one for parameter, one for all control registers and one for registers required for this project, PM,DM section etc. This macro is used in param.h file.

So, please have a look at this SigmaStudioFW.h file.

SigmaStudioFW.zip

Harish

Hi, thank you for your response, I have found the file and now know what the MACRO is.

As it turned out, the errors being raised by my compiler were a result of me making a mistake when copy/pasting the symbolic names from the *.h file to my Host source code!! I only ever need to use the symbols that end "_ADDR" to tell my Host processor where to read/write the DSP parameters and these symbols are always #defined as just a simple number.

BUT I had accidently copied some symbols that ended _VALUE which used the MACRO :-(

Thanks again for your response, it's always good to learn a bit more...
