Control and display of delay time?
I'm looking at the ADAU1452 in particular. The idea is to have a control of total delay time through the DSP and have that delay time displayed on a 3 digit or so numeric display. This is course delay steps (think of lipsync type of control) of perhaps half a ms. It seems that an external micro controller is the likely the best way to do this but I'm wondering if there is a way to do this in a self boot arrangement. At a very basic level it would need up & down buttons with a single press causing a single step increment. A nicer interface would probably have high and low speed jumps. Any thoughts?

The delay control part is easy; use the multi-tap voltage controlled delay module. You can do many different things for HID control of your desired delay steps; up-down buttons, a rotary switch, a pot, etc. Look in the GPIO Conditioning menu for pre-coded modules.
For display, I have toyed with using a serial out + GPIO as a "synthetic" SPI to control a character LED driver IC. That could work in your application by using lookup tables that store values that are actually SPI instructions to be sent when the input value changes. That is one-way communication only as I haven't attempted to use a SigmaDSP to receive instructions, only send, but it adds a simple MCU function to a self-booting SigmaDSP.
