We plan to use the ADAU 1761, but there seems like we have an issue with the digital IO. We want to use the Libre LS6 (which, as far as I know, does not support TDM) and a couple of TI amp chips (which do support TDM). We plan to use 3 or 4 output channels, and we need to use at least one digital input channel. How do you suggest we solve this? According to our team in China, the use of the LS6 module dictates no use of TDM. This could mean that we, due to the limited amount of pins, can not run more than 2 channel digital output.

Is this correct, or is there a solution for this?

The 1761 serial audio input and output can be run in different modes, so you can set the input to whatever two channel mode the LR6 use eg I2S, left justified, the output can be set for TDM suitable for the TI chips eg up to TDM8

My mistake, The bit clock and frame clock on the 1761 are common to the serial audio in and out so cannot be set to different modes, you need to look for a different DSP. The ADAU1701 has separate clocks for ins and outs and supports TDM8 mode on output 0.

NB the 1701 input clocks only work in slave mode, if input is required in master mode the output clocks are used as the input clocks, this should be OK if the LS6 can master the input to the dsp, if the LS6 only has slave mode then you will need to look at some of the more expensive Sigma chips that have better serial IO.

Hi pbthesp

Thanks a lot for the bad news

The thing is that we want to use the 1761 due to its low power consumption. Otherwise the 1701 would be perfect for us.

I think the solution will be to run one digital and one analog amplifier chip, but thanks a lot for your advise!
