ADAU1452 and Network utility for linux..
Hello staff,
i'm toying with an ADAU1452 EVB, the SigmaStudio works fairly well with the provided USPi SPI/I2C interface.
now i'm willing to test the "networked connection" thanx to the Network utility:
https://wiki.analog.com/resources/tools-software/linux-software/sigmatcp
anyway i've seen the TCP module in the communication tree of my sigmastudio 3.12 build1 rev.1422, has only three TCP modules for ADAU1761 ADAU1421 and 1940.
is there a more recent module for ADAU1452?
i tried to forcely connect the TCPIPADAU1761 to my ADAU1452 but the "logic wire" can't bind these modules.. so some kind of control is done!

Hi Andrea:
Unfortunately there is no module for the 145x at this moment. There are 2 modules being developed, one for the 1701 and another one for the 1953 that will most likely become available in our next Beta (~ a month from now).
Can you tell me your application?
We'll consider develop a channel for the 145x however have no plans at the moment. Please contact me directly if this is something you need more urgently and are willing to get it done externally..
Regards
Miguel
thanx for the fast reply..
albeit it's a bit puzzling as the ADAU1452 is actually the flagship product of SigmaDSP family so we suppose it should be the better supported device. right?
the application we are planning is a kind of mixing process of some digital inputs with filtering/DSP features and an analog exit. the runtime configuration will happen thanx to a ARM SOM connected with I2C or SPI.
so as we have this kind of network connected linux host driving the DSP, we thought it would be really easy to betatest the development firmware directly on the "real thing" without a properly designed header for a direct connection (that could invite people to hacking device..)
i suppose the TCP/IP <-> I2C gateway should be pretty transparent (i didn't looked too much at linux "daemon"), so i'm wondering if you could help us develop the DLL for making this connection available to SigmaStudio IDE..
bye
Hi Andrea:
The 1452 is the most recent DSP and is being supported the same way our previous parts are. The TCPIP development is not consider core fore SigmaStudio. This is most always develop upon customer demand.
I'll see if I can contact you to further discuss this request.
Miguel
ok Miguel, we appreciate a lot your commitment and willingness to help us.
this support could be useful to many other parties too, i suppose..
We are also interested in this application.
Also using an ARM host running a tiny linux with SPI connection to ADAU1452.
Application also needed here.

Use ADAU1452 in embedded system - remote control via SigmaStudio (TCP/IP?)
Hi Miguel,
could you contact me directly?
Best Regards,

hello, all, some months are passed and i have my own design with an ADAU1452 smoothly working. exciting times ahead..
to improve development cycles, we'd really like to have this TCPIP1452 SigmaStudio plugin for "on the fly" monitor&update of DSP params.. so could we try to figure out what's needed to make the plugin real?
provided some documentation, we can do some out of the tree development for this "I2C command gateway" plugin
bye

PS i've seen the latest Release Notes of SigmaStudio 13.3.x with the "hacked" version control menu for the ADAU145x chip, so it looks like ADi people are listening and providing solid solutions to customer's requests! that's great..
hi,
some time has passed but finally i've been able to make Sigma Studio (tested ver 3.14.1 build 1675) talk with an Adau1452 board over IP/I2C.
i reworked a bit the sigma_tcp utility that's running on a ARM32 board in the middle. let me tell you it was pretty barebone!!
i found this page on the wiki useful too.. but with some imprecisions, for example during my test, i've seen the Read Request doesn't send thetwo final "reserved bytes" that are present in the record.
anyway, i've put on github the result. enjoy and let me know issues and successes, eventually..
there are some issues, for example can't still see the readbacks on the SigmaStudio GUI but at least i can program/configure the DSP without that expensive cable!

PS i'm wondering if i can program the slave EEPROM this way.. but i think we would need a special purpose DSP FW with a different setup, or not?
Hello Andrea,
I think you can do this over the TCPIP. If you look at what happens when you program the EEPROM through the DSP using the standard USBi in the capture window. You will see that it first loads in a small program that will take in data from the slave port and send it out of the master port to program the part. Then to check the compilation it reads the data from the EEPROM and sends it out of the slave port to the USB interface.
So if you just highlight the small program you can transfer it to the sequencer window and then save it to an XML file. Then you can capture your program when it compiles and do the same, set up a button in the sequencer window. Then using the TCPIP module you can click to execute the sequence to load in the program and click to execute the sequence that sends the EEPROM code and you should be able to do it.
