ADAU1451 readback firmware version and sample rate

Hello,

I have a working board with two ADAU1451s on it We can run the DSP at different sample rates and currently compile SigmaStudio firmware based upon a setup option for a single sample rate. We have that working just fine. My firmware engineers want to be able to read back from the DSP a firmware version and what sample rate it was compiled for.

I have suggested that an 8 bit register than can be set to a value say, 4 bits for version, and 4 for sample rate would work. I do not know how to create such a readback. Is it possible?

Any suggestions?
