Hi!

We have a custom board with a ADAU1446 SigmaDSP (selfboot from EEPROM), a AD1939 CODEC and a PIC microcontroller.

-Is there any possibility to run the DSP in a sleep mode (less then 40mA) when audio is missing for some defined time and wake up on audio detect?

We could disable the voltage regulator of the ADAU1446, but then we need another device for the audio detection...

Best regards,

grimbart

Hi Grimbart,

I have moved this discussion from the Processors and DSP community to the SigmaDSP Processors and SigmaStudio Development Tools community.

Please continue your discussion here.

Thanks,

Colin

I think there is a chicken and an egg situation here.
The 144x is not inherently a low power parts. If you however use a ADAU1761, ADAU1781 or a SSM4329, then the power consumption for detecting audio signal would be much lower, but of course you would need to add those parts to your design and separate power withing different sections of your schematic.

I don't know the price sensitivity of your designs but overall those parts I mention above are lower cost than the 4329 and all have GPIOs that could be use to enable/disable the voltage regulator of the 144x.

Thanks Miguel!

At first glance, the ADAU17861 or the ADAU1781, looks nice! They are cheap and has a SigmaDSP core to program my own signal detection algorithm in SigmaStudio. I will take a closer look at them!

I found now a power supply module (not a AD product) that provide a signal detection input. It could be another solution for my problem.

Thanks and best regards,
