Hi forum,

I would like to ask if there are interface read/write registers in the ADAU1761 chip.

If, yes, could you please make me aware of the addresses of those registers?

I need to store some information on those registers and then I need to query them to retrieve this information.

Could I do that with the interface registers? Is this part of the memory non-volatile?

thank you

Hi,

I have moved this from the Processors and DSP community to the SigmaDSP Processors and SigmaStudio Development Tool community. Please continue the discussion here.

Hi Dimitris:

No, there are no interface registers on the 1761, at least not the same ones as the 1701. To store information back to an EEPROM, for the 1761 you will need to use a microcontroller and write the values into coefficient space. Keep in mind that an improvement done for the 1761 (as opposed to the 1701) SigmaStudio does provide a way to write to coefficient space. This functionality was added to store non volatile information when systems power up\down however the mechanism for writing back to EEPROM was not added to the 1761. In part we did not added this mechanism for the same reason why the 1761 doesn't have self boot.

When using a microcontroller simple read the assigned values from memory and store them in non volatile memory.

Please let us know if this answers your questions.

Miguel

Hi Miguel,

this does reply my question.

My confusion was due to the fact that the Interface Register option still appears in the ToolBox Tree in SigmaStudio even though it is not supported by the 1761 chip.

The user can freely through them in the design and the code will still compile. This triggered a quest to find the addresses of those registers as it gave me the impression that they are as well supported on the 1761 chip.

Even though, to be fair, they are not mentioned at all in the manual of 1761 as it should.

Thanks a lot for your help,

Dimitris
