Often I want to set up readbacks or level meters for testing, but I can't leave them all in the final project at the same time or I run out of MIPS. Is there a way to disable them without actually deleting them from the project, so I can use them later without recreating them?

Hello,

It would be nice to have a "conditional compile" feature in SigmaStudio. For now, however, you might try saving your various measurement blocks in hierarchy boards, as shown below.

In this project, hierarchy board "Meas A" includes a Real-Time Display. Note that you can also include conditioning blocks needed for the display, as shown:

"Meas B" contains a DSP Readback. The hierarchy board "Blank" has only an input, connected to any handy point in the project as a dummy variable.

Save each hierarchy board to a file (for a tutorial on using Hierarchy boards, see [Tutorial] Using Hierarchy Boards to create re-usable code

For the runtime version of your project, load all the hierarchy boards with the "Blank" code. When doing this you'll see the scary message,

which you can safely ignore since you have file copies of all your boards. The empty boards won't add MIPS to your project.

To activate a particular measurement, simply load its corresponding Hierarchy board. For some reason, my mouse cursor disappears when loading hierarchy boards, which I worked around by saving and re-opening the project. Hopefully this method is easier than re-creating your measurements.

Best regards, Bob
