Hello

I am test De-Emphasis filter function at ADAU1761. I discovered that it can work at 48KHz sample rate , but can not work at 96KHz sample rate. How can I setting , if I need use De-Emphasis filter at 96KHz sample rate ? I am not found pre-emphasis function at SigmaStudio 3.9 . Will it add in SigmaStudio at future ? Thank you.

Hello,

Have you changed your system sample rate by closely following these steps?

FAQ: How do I change the sample rate of my SigmaStudio system?

There is no existing pre-emphasis filter in SigmaStudio and there is currently no plan to add one.

Hello

I have changed setting to 96KHz , if not through De-Emphasis filter that the sine tone (1 KHz tone) can listen at headset. Thank you.

If the de-emphasis filter cell is blocking the audio at a 96 kHz sample rate, then I think the cell was only designed to work at 48 kHz. Does this match your results?

Hello Paul,

Although the De-Emphasis Filter's response is not documented, it's easily revealed with the Stimulus-Probe tools:

This is a first-order pole-zero response. You can build your own complimentary Pre-Emphasis filter as shown below:

The two filters together yield the desired flat response:

Hello Paul,

Yes, there is something in the De-Emphasis block that prevents its use at 96 KHz -- it won't even simulate via Stimulus / Probe as other filters do at that sample rate. Generally, SigmaStudio automatically adjusts IIR filter coefficients for the sample rate in use -- apparently this feature is lacking with the De-Emphasis filter.

However, we can approximate the De-Emphasis filter's response with the few blocks shown below:

This has a response similar to the original De-Emphasis filter (compare the plot below to that of my first post), yet its General First-Order filter works at any sample rate:

Best Regards,

Bob
