Travis Question

I am trying to come up with some rough power estimates for power consumption on the ADAU1761. The datashee has great info for the ADC and DAC, but no info to help in predicting consumption in the DSP core itself. I understand that it's highly application specific, but I'm looking for guidance any guidance that can be given. A TDP or worst case number for the core would give me a rough idea to start with. Are we talking 2mA, 20mA, 50mA....?

Thanks,

-Travis

Hi Travis,

Please look at Figure 22 in the datasheet. It has a graph that plots average current draw versus number of instructions executed in the DSP per sample. It ranges from nearly 0 mA to 10.5 mA.

Thanks,

Brett

This is a great start.

Thank you!

In the 'Marketing' specs on the first page, which tend to be best case scenarios, 14mW at 1.8V is listed for stereo record and playback at 48khz. Looking at table 4, 48khz, 1.8v, extreme power savings mode, lists 5.73mA, being 10.3 mA. I am suprised to see this to be so much lower than the "marketing" specs. Am I missing something?

Thanks again,

-Travis

Regarding my previous question. Might the 14mW example from page one include some DSP core consumption that isn't figured into the Table 4? Is the 14mW confguration defined somewhere?

Thanks,

-Travis
