Hey Guys,

Is it possible to chain 3 x ADAU1761's using the serial port: Output1-Input2, Output2-Input3, Output3-Input1 as shown in the attached block diagram? From info in datasheet I see each serial port supports TDM4 and TDM8, but I'm wondering how this would behave in a chain. Will the second chip act as a multiplexer before passing on the data to the third etc.? I'm hoping that I would be able to access digital AUX1, AUX2 and AUX3 on each DSP core.

Thanks for any input.

Kuba,

Yes, this is possible. You should put all 3 chips in TDM8 mode. You can output channels 0, 1 from the first chip to the second. Then you can output channels 0, 1, 2, 3 from the second chip to the third. Then you can output channels 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 from the third back to the first, if you want.

Although, I think it would make more sense to output channels 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 from the third IC to whatever the audio signal sink is. For example, another DSP or microcontroller, or wherever the audio needs to go next.
