Selfboot with ADAU1761?
Hi
I have planned to use the ADAU1761 with two MEMS microphones as a "front-end" to a sensor node. By implementing the "detect and conditioning algorithm" on the ADAU1761, the load on the microcontroller on the sensor node can be significantly reduced. However, from what I understand, the ADAU1761 does not have a self-boot function, which is a major drawback for my application.
Is it possible to make "simple" a self-boot cirucit based on an external EEPROM +++? The easiest would maybe to go for ADAU1701 or ADAU1702, which have a self-boot capability. The drawback is the the power consumtion of this circuits.
Best regards,

The ADAU1761's feature set does not include self-boot functionality because most systems it is designed into already have microcontrollers, so eliminating that function allowed us to further reduce to cost of the chip. Unfortunately, there are also some systems (such as yours!) where there is no microcontroller, and self-boot would have come in handy! ...That's the difficult part of product definition.
Unfortunately, the only way to boot the ADAU1761 is to use some kind of microcontroller. There are cheap, low-power microcontrollers available from a number of manufacturers that should be able to boot the chip.
I don't believe there is an easy way to transfer data from an EEPROM to the ADAU1761 without a microcontroller, because there is no master control port on the ADAU1761 that would be able to initiate the transfer.
