Is there any way to read a version number of some sort from the software on the SigmaDSP. We would like to be able to check to make sure our MCU software is synched with the DSP's parameter settings. Or is there a way to save custom information to the DSP memory and access it?

Yes, there is a way to do this. The DC Source cell, which appears in the Sources folder of every SigmaDSP, simply reserves a space in parameter RAM and allows you to store whatever data there you want. Sometimes, you might use this as a logic signal to control some index or multiplexer cell in your project. Other times, you can use it to store an arbitrary value.

The only problem is that the linker (which puts the cells together in a certain order for the compiler), may choose to put this cell in a different area of parameter RAM if the project is updated. This means that the value is not locked to a particular RAM location.

One way I can think of solving this problem is to connect the DC source cell as close as possible to the first input channel. I believe that the linker generally starts with the first input channel and works its way through the signal chain. By using the following configuration in each project you make, you might be able to guarantee that the DC Source parameter always gets allotted the same spot in RAM.

(No guarantees, though! I don't fully understand the linker, so there might be situations where this does not hold true...)
