Using the ADAU1442, we have multiple microphone lines coming in operating in an extremely noisy environment. The completely undocumented "Noise Reduction" block in SigmaStudio 3.4 under ADI Algorithms -> Noise Removal does quite a good job of removing this noise.

Unfortunately, when I add 1 of these blocks, it uses 2272 bytes of Modulo RAM. I can only use 3 of these blocks, using a total of 84% of my Modulo Data Ram.

I try to add a fourth block, I get the message

Ram Address Exceeds: 8192

For assistance, please contact ADI

Which raises hopes that this can be solved?

Unfortunately, I have up to 8 separate lines which are incoming which all need this treatment.

Also, is there any more documentation on the Noise Removal Block?

Sorry to reply so late. I was in China from July 15th-23rd and I didn't have much time to check the forum.

I am hoping to create documentation on the noise removal algorithm very soon. Basically, it splits the signal up into a number of frequency bands (in a psuedo-FFT fashion) and checks to see if the level of a given band exceeds the noise floor of all bands by a certain amount. If so, the signal is considered to be important and it is passed through. If not, the band is considered to be "noise" and it is eliminated.

Unfortunately, this kind of processing requires a large amount of RAM and therefore it uses up over 2k of non-modulo data RAM.

Since the ADAU1442 only has 8192 words of data RAM, you will not be able to use more than 3 of these blocks.
