I want to use digital microphones in my application. What SigmaDSPs support this interface and how do I connect them?

Circuit Note CN-0078 has just been published. This document details the hardware interface and software settings necessary for configuring the ADAU1761 SigmaDSP codec to work with the ADMP421 digital microphones. The ADAU1781 also supports a digital microphone input. Both of these codecs can connect to up to two digital microphones using a single PDM input pin.

An example of using the ADAU1761 with PDM microphones is attached.

Thanks Brett! This project will work with both the ADMP421 and ADMP521 PDM microphones.

This is a very old thread. ADI no longer manufactures MEMS microphones. The majority of SigmaDSP processors now support glueless connections to digital PDM microphones. For connection details, please see the datasheets.

We no longer have the file attachment after we migrated over to the new EngineerZone platform. The datasheet does show what registers are involved and how to set it up. It is the Digital Microphone Input section on page 31 and figure 36.
