Normally I am a Linux user. I work with Yocto and the Android AOSP. Now I need to work with A2B, so I fought for a Windows computer to run SigmaStudio. I downloaded SigmaStudio 4.7 and installed it. However it crashes when I try to open a dsproj file that was sent to me.

Windows Event Viewer shows this:

Faulting application name: SStudio.exe, version: 4.7.0.1831, time stamp: 0x624c5756
Faulting module name: unknown, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000000

Faulting process id: 0x415c
Faulting application start time: 0x01da5519ba13300a
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\Analog Devices\SigmaStudio 4.7\SStudio.exe
Faulting module path: unknown

Any advice?

And where do I need SS+? Could I try that instead? The download link for that currently does not work. The download link takes me to the main page. www.analog.com/.../software-download.html

Hello Proteus,

The A2B evaluation boards and software for the setting up and working with A2B networks is all done in SigmaStudio+. So you will need to download it and that may be the project you are trying to load in? You could attach the project to your post would help us to help you.

SigmaStudio+ is our newer version and total rewrite of SigmaStudio. The problem is that the older Sigma200 and sigma100 core products will not be supported in SigmaStudio+. The ADAU1761 is a Sigma200 core product. To program the DSP core in this product will require you to write the DSP program in SigmaStudio Rev 4.7 and then take the XML output file and import that into SigmaStudio+ project.

For help with A2B and some of these other details I suggest you post questions in the A2B space in the forum. (+) A2B - EngineerZone (analog.com)

If you have questions on programming the ADAU1761 using SigmaStudio 4.7 then here is the right place for those questions.

Often, the A2B eval board will use the 1761 mostly as a codec and not actually use the DSP core. So you may not need to actually create a DSP program for the 1761. You may only need to set up the registers to operate as a codec.

Ask the person who sent you the file to clarify some of these details.

Thanks,

Dave T

Thanks for the detailed answer, Dave!

It's definitely a project for SigmaStudio. I cannot open anything from the dsproj project that was sent me. I also tried to open some of the schematics in the project separately. It has several different schematics. They also crash SigmaStudio. (SigmaStudio+ does not recognize this project. It uses ssproj as the file suffix.)

The board I have not seen. It is being configured as an A2B master or slave, and is using the ADAU1761. I am not sure I can share it here. I will get one in the near future.

I am trying to run SigmaStudio on Windows 11. It's a new PC just set up a few days ago.

Hello Proteus,

You must be working with someone either in the Automotive group or the A2B group correct? I suggest you contact them for some help with this.

We are not officially supporting Windows 11 yet but I think it may work if you are running it on a PC. We (including me on my personal MAC) have seen issues with the USBi driver on a MAC M1/M2 platform running Parallels that is running a VM of Windows 11. However, you are good to point this out. It may be a factor.

I really cannot help you further without the program nor any knowledge of the board which is why I am saying to go back to the original person who is supporting you. You did not supply your name in your profile and you are using a GAMIL email address so I cannot easily ask the people in the A2B group about your situation. You did put in a company name which is why I think this is an automotive application.
