Sigmastudio+ EVAL-ADAU1467Z write EEPROM/selfboot
Hello,
what do I need to do to write the EEPROM of EVAL-ADAU1467Z with Sigmastudio+ 2.4 and USBi and get it running in selfboot mode?
When I create a new project and connect the PC with USBi and the USBi to the EVAL-ADAU1467Z by SPI I can run „Write Latest Compilation Through DSP“ and get a „EEPROM updated successfully“ message, but validation fails. When I enable „MasterControlPort“ and run „Write Latest Compilation Through DSP“ validation seems to work. But still the programm isn’t loaded when I enable selfboot mode and press reset. I disabled selfboot for writing the EEPROM and enabled it after the verification.
What am I missing here?
I attached a small example that sends the SPDIF input to Ch 0/1.
Thanks
Hendrik

Hello Hendrik,
It seems you are doing everything correctly and since it's an eval board we don't need to worry about the hardware schematics, so it must be something simple that we are missing.
It's great that you disabled the self-boot switch while writing to the EEPROM.
I have quickly downloaded your project and added an LED blink, link compile downloaded that to hardware, then clicked 'write latest compilation thru DSP'. The write to EEPROM and 'check latest compilation thru DSP' is successful and I turned on the self-boot switch and hit reset; I can see the LED blink in self-boot mode.
If there is a problem with your audio pass thru, then you may not know if it's an audio issue or self-boot issue. Have you checked if the audio is present when you do normal link compile download via USBi?
I have modified your project with the LED blink included, please try this.

Hello Harish,
thanks for the reply! It was an error on my side, sorry, the EEPROM was programmed just fine. To test the selfboot mode I disconnected the USB cable of the USBi, to make sure it runs standalone. And then it doesn't work. The control port must be disconnected when USBi is not powered/connected to USB.
Best regards
Hendrik
Hello Hendrik,
Glad that the issue is solved.
Thanks for getting back to us with your update!

Hello Hendrick,
I also add to the comment from Harish to thank you for taking the time to report back.
Yes, if you just disconnect the USBi's USB cable connecting to the PCB but leave the ribbon cable attached then the parts on the USBi are powered down yet it is still connected to active voltages on the DSP board. The USBi has connections to power and also to important lines like the reset line on the eval boards. So never unplug the USB cable and keep the USBi connected to the target board. It will always cause problems.
Thanks,
Dave T
